Begotten II: Return of the Undergod is a post-apocalyptic Garry's Mod gamemode running on Clockwork. It takes place in a post-apocalyptic wasteland: the remnants of a once-great civilization that has reached the pinnacle of decadence, where moral depravity still reigns supreme.
God has committed suicide, leaving the denizens of Earth in the hands of the ruinous powers, the Begotten. Packs of demons roam the wastelands, brutalizing any human survivors in their wake. Some appear to resemble deformed humanoids, while others take on forms beyond comprehension, equal only in their bloodlust against the living.
The World of Begotten is a desolate, twisted, and ultimately forsaken place. After a series of earthquakes and volcanic activity, the landscape of Earth has become unrecognizable. Begotten hordes now roam the lands, searching desperately to find any mortal life to feed upon. The Town of Light is perhaps the only beacon of humanity left in the known world, and pilgrims from far lands brave the treacherous journey to seek shelter inside its formidable and perhaps ensorcelled walls. The Town of Light is led by the Pope of the Faith of the Light, a twisted variation of Christianity. Serving the Pope are indispensable educated priests and his cult of fanatics loyal only to him, the Gatekeepers, who defend the walls with their lives as if bound by religious duty.
